The Weekend.

By the time I woke up Friday morning, the news was buzzing with ominous forecasts, "high alerts" for tornadoes, grim predictions for the afternoon, and a general sense of overwhelming concern. By 1:30 schools were sending students home early, by 2:30 it was a record-setting 81 degrees outside, by 3:45 the tornado sirens were going off in our neighborhood and by 3:46 our basement was packed with 6 adults, 1 baby, and 3 dogs.  Needless to say, a basement is a popular thing to own in middle TN during tornado season.

For the next half hour we sat in the dim light, watching the sky through the small ground-level window, and listening to the news blaring through our small battery operated radio.

By the end of the storm our house was safe, but many of our other friends’ homes were damaged.  Fortunately, nobody we know was hurt.  However, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost so much during these storms…

Saturday, we celebrated our friend Sara’s 30th birthday at the vineyard! By this time, the weather had changed to a sunny & brisk 55 degrees.  Four picnic tables of friends enjoyed drinks, chips and dip, cupcakes, and a gorgeous view.

Why do I not have more pictures you ask?  Because I stink at getting my camera out and I vow to do better… I seriously do.  If there was ever a perfect time to take pictures it would have been on Saturday… 40 friends laughing in a field, eating amazing food, drinking amazing drinks, playing on quilts with babies, men playing that game with holes and bean bags (I know the name of it…but I hate the name of it…) This was the day to take photos… lesson learned.

Sunday I stayed home and fought a cold with many hours of movies (including the amazing Dixie Chicks' documentary Shut Up and Sing) a hot sandwich from Mitchell's Deli, and a fire in the fireplace. It must have been just the cure because I woke up Monday feeling a-okay.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and stayed safe during the storms.

God Bless!

So glad you're safe! I'll keep your friends in my prayers tonight. I have been dying for a fireplace. I'm currently looking for a new apartment, and that's my only criteria!

I'm glad y'all were safe! And a fire in the fireplace can cure just about anything!

How is it that you can look so cute all the time even in the middle of a tornado?? :)
