We did it.

Today we went to the hospital and burned off the granulation (basically scar tissue) on Abi's g-tube site (AGAIN) and got her button changed.  The button has to be changed every 3-4 months.  This was the first time getting it changed so we did it in the clinic.  They showed me what they were doing and the next time, (and all times after) I can either do it myself at home or take her back into the clinic.  Considering the clinic is on the 7th floor of a very large children's hospital, doing it at home would be ideal.

Driving to the appointment I was crazy nervous.  For one, burning the granulation REALLY hurts Abiella... so that's always upsetting.  Second, I hadn't eaten lunch (tisk-tisk) and I was legitimately afraid that looking into a hole that goes directly into my child's stomach might make me a little... light headed.

BUT, one of the nurses I absolutely adore did everything in her power to make Abi comfortable, and while the actual act was terribly painful for her, we made it through.  (Thanks to Sean's crazy super-natural ability to comfort Abiella in all situations.) And now we're home.  And I didn't pass out... (unless you include the hour I just spent sleeping on the couch sitting completely straight up.)

Right now, I'm semi-regretting my 20 second inhale of a double king-size candy bar (It was organic though so it obviously doesn't count) and Abi's getting fed through her new button:

Also- in an attempt to prevent granulation again, we changed the type of button we used from a 'mickey'  to a 'mini.' Which makes me think of these two:

... we're hoping Minnie treats us better than her beau did.

Have a good one!
